Paid Intern for Field Research and Ag Production Technology
Position Purpose: Assist with overall farm research and plot work. Shadow and assist all positions on the farm. Learn about operations of a larger scale grain and vegetable farm.
Position Description: Wallendal Farms is a 3rd generation, family-owned farm. During the summer months, the intern will work with and learn from the farm managers at Wallendal Farms. They will also work alongside an independent, WI-based R&D dry bean breeder on bean breeding plots on-farm over the summer months. They will work closely with Wallendal Farms Research Manager on all other farm plots that involve cover crops and specialty vegetables. Opportunities for shadowing and assisting with tasks with all our various farm departments include but are not limited to: technology, business administration, agronomy, operations, and financial. There is possible fall and spring semester work in the UW greenhouses to continue the bean breeding program. We are dedicated to education and hope to find a student who loves learning and the outdoors.
Wallendal Farms is located northeast of Wisconsin Dells. The summer position will be between 30-40 hours per week at $10/hour, with overtime paid if beyond 40 hours. We are willing to be flexible on the schedule to accommodate our student hire. There is an end of summer season bonus/scholarship opportunity. During the semester, there a possibility of 5-10 hours per week in the greenhouse.
