Advising
Faculty Advisors
The Biology Major has a network of over 50 faculty advisors to guide students within the Biology Major. Faculty Advisors are excellent resources for research guidance, graduate school preparation, and navigating the major requirements. Students may request to be assigned a faculty advisor at or after major declaration. Once matched, contact the faculty advisor directly for an appointment.
Biology Major Peer Mentoring Program
The Biology Major peer mentoring program is an opportunity for first- and second-year Biology Majors to connect with their fellow Biology Majors (junior standing or higher) to facilitate academic and personal growth. The program intends to help build community within the major and provide peer-focused support to students. The Biology Major mentors have been trained to provide insight on being successful in major, connecting mentees to campus resources, and identifying out-of-classroom opportunities related to bioscience fields.
Expectations are that mentee/mentor meetings will occur at least once per month (virtually or in-person, depending on comfort level). Mentees will also be invited to participate in group mentoring sessions led by mentors.
