Exceptions not permitted

    • Genetics 160 will not be accepted in place of Genetics 466;course content and level not an appropriate substitution. [10/28/99]
    • Anatomy 328 will not count towards the Biology Major [breadth]; this course is taught at an elementary level. [3/9/00]
    • Bacteriology 101-102 will not be accepted in place of Bacteriology 303-304 under Requirement #5, category b: Organismal Biology; course pairs are too different to be an appropriate substitution. [10/28/99]
    • IES 400: Nuclear Power and Weapons in Envir History will not count towards the Biology Major. [11/08/01]
    • Pathology and Lab Med 402: Pathophysiological Principles of Human Disease will not permitted. [11/19/01]
    • Pharm Sci 310: Drugs and their Actions (2cr.) will not be accepted in the Biology Major. [4/16/02]
    • Social Science statistics courses (i.e. Psych 210) will not be accepted for the Biology Major. [4/9/08]
    • Environmental Studies/Population Health- Health Impact Assessment of Global Environmental Change will not be accepted for the Biology Major. [9/26/18]
    • F&W Ecol 449: Disturbance Ecology Lab (I): Herbivores and Fire will not be accepted to meet the lab for upper-level breadth in the major; too few total lab hours. [4/10/23]
    • F&W Ecol 450: Disturbance Ecology Lab (II): Forest Pathogens will not be accepted to meet the lab for upper-level breadth in the major; too few total lab hours. [4/10/23]
    • Zoology 400: Freshwater: Past, Present, and Future will not be accepted for upper-level breadth in the major; designed for first-year students as part of a FIG [7/5/23]
    • Envir St 308: Outdoors for All: Inequities in Environmentalism will not be accepted for upper-level breadth in the major [7/6/23]
    • Research credit for the Biology/Botany/Zoology 152 Independent Project (e.g. 299, 699, Pl Path 153) and research credit taken concurrently or previous to completing the introductory biology requirement will not be accepted for the upper-level breadth lab course, additional lab or field research requirement, or capstone.
    • B M E/Med Phys/Phmcol-M/Physics/Radiol 619: Microscopy of Life will be accepted to meet category E but will not be accepted to meet the lab for upper-level breadth in the major; lab sessions are tours, demos, and guest speakers [4/13/26]
